I read it before work on the train Monday morning, during lunch break, after work, and in the evening again. However, I took "Save Me From Myself" home Sunday night and I finished it Tuesday night. I just bought the book to show support; I did not plan to read it, but. It left me wanting a sequel, and I truly hope that Brian writes a second.
The past few years I've only read two books from cover to cover, and they took me at least a few weeks to sit down and pay attention enough to finish them both. I met Brian Welch at a live event where he gave his testimony. I finished it and wanted more. I didn't have to wait to be absorbed into Brian's book - it just sucked my attention in right from the start and didn't let go. No joke.
so I read it again right after I finished it. Being a musician myself probably made the book that much more fascinating for me. I actually do not like to read entire books; I only read what I "have to read" and I get by fine (I earned all A's in college, so I do well with my style of reading). I thought I'd get the same enjoyment out of a book written by Brian's ex-bandmate "Fieldy" who also wrote a book, but I only got through the first few pages and put it down. The book absorbed my total attention.
I could not put it down. There was just something so raw and sincere and yet innocent about Brian's story that I honestly did not find in Fieldy's book but maybe if I had been more patient I would have been more intrigued with Fieldy's. Thank you Brian for putting this book out there.
I am not a reader like most people but I thought this time one page at a time and I will eventually finish the book. The book itself is quite a literary roller coaster. I picked up the book, and being a christian I was not supposed to like the band Korn, saw with excitement that he in fact had gotten saved. I could not have been happier. First of all I saw Brian at Phoenix first assembly of God July 16 2007. IT will inspire you to walk closer to God. It was so compelling that I would read about 20 pages and then have to go do something, but the whole time I was thinking of getting back to the book. I started reading and could not put the book down.
I enjoyed every moment of reading Brian's book. I got home and decided to give this book a try. His book had just came out and I had just found out three weeks earlier that he was a christian. There is not a dull moment in the whole book. As soon as I bought the book it compelled me to read it, it almost begged me to read it. So I did. I highly recommend reading this book. The book I ordered arrived within 5 days in perfect shape. It was just like I went to the bookstore and bought it.only I didn't have to pay for the gas : )
It is one that may be especially powerful for those who are struggling with an addiction and/or happen to be fans of Korn. In fact, I am not sure if I have ever even heard one of their songs, but I thoroughly enjoyed this life story.
His experiences are compelling and powerful. This is an inspirational testimony from someone who had a tremendous life changing experience by turning his life over to Jesus Christ. It is the story of Brian 'Head' Welch, one of the founders of and former lead guitarist of the rock band 'Korn'.
I am not a fan of Korn. 'Head' is a person who was addicted to methamphetamine and had a very destructive lifestyle in spite of (or possibly because of his fame and wealth).
His life transformation is incredible. The appeal of this story will go far beyond just fans of Korn.
This is worth reading for anyone who is interested in a story of a life transformed.
Our son was given the opportunity to read this book while waiting to go to alcohol treatment. Our son, too, has turned his life around--back to his family roots--to give direction of his life to the Lord as his Savior, Jesus Christ. It touched him deeply. He could relate to many things "Head" told about in his life. This book was not one I would have chosen, but reading it was very interesting. It is real, honest, and no-frills.
